Herdade FM Guided Walk Tour

Let's explore, prepare and taste herbs and medicinal mushrooms which can improve our response to stress, increase our energy levels, treat fatigue and burn-out, boost our immune response and regulate hormones. Sounds too good to be true?

These amazing all-rounders are well-studied and highly effective herbs like Siberian Ginseng, Suma, Schisandra, Astragalus, He Shou Wu, Ashwagandha, Shatavari, Dong Quai, and Rhodiola, including medicinal mushrooms like Cordyceps and Reishi.

All of these are traditionally taken to strengthen our body, and for prevention as well as treatment. You will leave this workshop inspired and empowered with practical knowledge, able to implement these herbs into your daily routine right away.

(obs: This workshop is for suitable for experienced and beginner levels of Herbalism.)

The Liver "governs the smooth flow of emotions" and easily stagnates when unfullfilled desires and and delayed gratification become the norm. This sense of discontentment has been accelerated since social media and the internet became an integral part of our lives.

At the same time the Spleen and the digestive system in general is put under pressure by poor food choices, emotional eating, over/undereating and constant analysis and rummination. These 2 seemingly innocent factors begin to sow the seeds of many modern health problems.

Over time this negative spiral, that begins in the centre of the body, spirals out to effect all other organ systems.

Let's join together on a journey to see how herbal medicine can have a profound and lasting impact in halting this cycle and returning us to a state of peace and harmony.

Moving class on the importance of spontaneous herbs in herbal medicine, cooking, our garden and ecosystems.

To recognise and value what is ours, uses and traditions of medicinal plants in Portugal.

In the current panorama where global warming and sustainability are emerging concerns, we must focus our attention on the resources available around us.

Sometimes it is much more attractive to give in to the strategies of the commercialization of natural health and to the 1001 promises of some of the "natural" products that are sold.

But aren't there more local alternatives? More sustainable?

Yes, we just need to explore and educate ourselves about the plants that grow around us. Nature as an intelligent force provides us with what we need for a healthy and full life.

In this talk we will discuss some examples of exotic plants and natural products that could well be replaced with alternatives from humble but powerful sources

Sunday market

Lunch

This is a conversation, mediated by Healing Forest Portugal, between two friends, who grew up in the suburbs of Montemor-o-Novo, and the audience present.

Living in the countryside, they learned from their own experience, from their grandparents and also from Mestre Salgueiro and Xico Virtuoso, the art of knowing the healing plants.

About two generations ago it was a privilege to go to the doctor. Buying medicine even more so. People trusted the local healers, better known as the "virtuous ones", who performed blessings and remedies to cure all ills.

These two friends are heirs to ancient and popular knowledge that is slowly being lost.

During the conversation we will hear different stories and how the people themselves practiced resilience. Wild plants will be present and the masters will share their different applications.

This conversation will be mediated by Raquel Shakti, who learns and shares good moments with these two friends: Mestre Abelha and Miguel dos Santos.

Creation of a medicinal bed/garden pharmacy, where we talk about the importance of seeds, plant relationships and put our hands in the soil.

How to use essential oils, hydrosols and herbs for animal welfare.

On this Walk open to all ages, we will identify plants and their habitats through observation and drawing.

Each participant will design a book that will be a unique story of the places they have visited on the Herdade.

Communication, integration and becoming.

In the Postpartum Plants activity we will incorporate the ancient wisdom of medicinal plants into practical preparations to bring you comfort, nourishment and integration of all the common changes we experience in the postpartum period.

The process of creating our own alchemy for ourselves or gift is very magical, empowering and rescues a very great connection and awareness in this relationship with ourselves as a mirror of the relationship with mother earth.

Some of the recipes we will exemplify are the sitz bath and the regenerating oil.

As well as the relief that these alchemies may bring you in the various challenges, they are also a team of plant doulas supporting more subtle dimensions of us that may process at a different pace to the body, all the rebirth that happens at this stage.

Join us on this journey back home, to our body and heart, where we will mother ourselves with the healing embrace of nature.
